The Sindh High Court (SHC) division bench on Friday admitted for hearing appeal filed against conviction in drug case and issued notice to the state.

According to prosecution case, the appellant among others was planning to smuggle Charas to Canada under grab of the garment exports.

On receiving information, the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) arrested the appellant and raided the house in Usmania colony, Jehangirabad, here, and recovered 495 kilograms Charas hidden in cartons.

Anwar Hussain Qureshi was sentenced to life imprisonment with fine of Rs one million by Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) court, here, on June 17.

It was contended in appeal that appellant was falsely implicated in the case and court was prayed to set aside the trial court order.

Meanwhile, the same bench comprising Justice Wahid Bux Brohi and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery also admitted for hearing the appeal of Mohammad Riaz, activist of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi against conviction in illegal weapon case and issued notice to the state.
